UC Health Project | UX Research(2019)
BACKGROUND
UC Health radiology department is dedicated to improving its service through empathy, expertise, and innovation. Its goal is to be a nationally recognized center of imaging excellence known for best in class patient experience, nationwide referral base, and innovative research & teaching.
This project was conducted by Livewell and collaborated with GE. The goal of this research project is to understand the fundamental knowledge and the workflow of the care team in the radiology department of UC Helath, based on which to identify the key points in the current services to help further improve the user experience.
OBJECTIVES
Identify the stakeholders in the whole process.
Understand current technology and devices.
Understand the workflow of the core team.
Map out current end-to-end clinician journey from the time of diagnosis to post-treatment.
Identify the key points that influence user experience in current services.
MY ROLE
Working as one of the researchers in the core research team to conduct interview, shadowing, and workshop in the UC health hospital. Conduct Qualitative analysis collaborating with staff in GE radiology equipment department.
INTERVIEW
Interviewed the managers and technologists to figure out the daily workflow of technologists for further analysis.
WORKSHOP
Conducted a workshop with radiologists to map out their daily workflow.
SHAWDOWING
Conducted shadowing research with technologists and central schedulers for one day to figure out the whole process of radiology exam.
CONCLUSION
At the end of this project, based on the insights acquired from the research, we identified several key points of the radiology exam, which provided valuable design opportunities for the design team to further improve the user experience of UC Health radiology department.
